Last Junior Whaler Card

It has been quite a while since I have found a Kevin Dineen card from my want list.  Yes, I have gotten the Upper Deck French Buy-Back and autograph from In the Game's Decades 1980s sets, which came out this year.  I mean a card that was issued long ago that has been a long time resident on the want list.  In any event, I finally crossed another card off the want list:

Both Stadium Club First Day Issues on One Day

In the years that I have collected Kevin Dineen cards (since the summer of 2006, I think), I had never come across the 1993-94 Stadium Club First Day Issue cards of Kevin Dineen.  That includes the U.S. version and the Canadian version.  And last week, both of those cards popped up on eBay with a Buy It Now price.  Needless to say, I didn't waste any time hitting the BIN.  Here they are

Hey, A New Card!

Posted by wegryc on March 1, 2010 at 8:58 PM Comments comments ()

Finally, a new card!  The 1991-92 Swedish Semic Sticker:

A big thank you to Jeff B. for trading me this card (whose front and back is pictured above)!  Jeff is another Kevin Dineen fan, and knows a dealer who can obtain European hockey cards.  Jeff got this card for me, and traded it to me for my extra Pro Set Award Winners Kevin ...

OK, I Give Up (not on the collection, but one card)

Posted by wegryc on November 8, 2009 at 9:49 AM Comments comments ()

I've had this redemption chit for quite a while now, but I haven't put in the museum since I was hoping to obtain the actual card.  But Upper Deck (a while ago now) stated that the card would never be produced (and sent me a Eric Staal autograph instead).  Thus, it's time to stop my denial and accep...

A New Post But Not Many More Cards

Posted by wegryc on August 30, 2009 at 3:54 PM Comments comments ()

It has been a while since I've posted a new entry, and that is because there haven't been many additions to the collection the past few months.  I did post a new graded card today:

Another Team Set Card Obtained and a 80s Gem

Posted by wegryc on January 15, 2009 at 7:43 PM Comments comments ()
Following up on the last post, team sets do come up every so often on eBay.  Case in point, the 1997-98 Hurricanes Team Set came up for sale and had one of the Final Ten KD cards I need.  Here it is:

Something happened to the set before it got to me; the outer bubble envelope and even inner cardboard envelope was...

A Toughie Obtained, and a Toughie Lost

Posted by wegryc on October 29, 2008 at 7:11 PM Comments comments ()
One day you are just sifting through your eBay saved searches, not expecting anything special, but there, skulking about the links, is a white whale:

I was wondering if I would even see a copy of this card, given a paltry print run of 46.  I knew most of these cards must be in card show dealer boxes, or sitting o...

Slowly But Surely.....

Three of my biggest wants (PSA 10 RC, the Liut/Dineen dual auto, and the Pro Set Award winners) have been obtained this year.  The remaining toughies seem to me to be the 99-00 Pacific Premiere Date and the Stadium Club First Day Issue (especially the OPC version).  There are others that I feel must be out there but just don't come to market often, like this one:

Top Two Wants Obtained!

Posted by wegryc on May 18, 2008 at 7:46 PM Comments comments ()
First, I finally got the high grade Kevin Dineen rookie I've been seeking:

One hadn't popped up on eBay for a long time (at least a year), so I was pretty exiting when this one arrived.

When I first started collecting Mr. Dineen, I thought one card would be unattainable:  the 1991-92 Pro Set NHL Sponser Awards card.  As I understand it, these cards were only given to attende...

Sheets from Finland

Posted by wegryc on February 5, 2008 at 8:09 PM Comments comments ()
The newest additions to the collection come from Finland.  A nice fellow named Ilkka emailed me out of the blue saying he had a couple of Flyers sheets with Kevin Dineen that I may not have.  Sure enough, they were the elusive 1993-94 Flyers Lineup Sheets:

Yes, they are huge.  It was great...
